What’s On Feb 6th & 7th

February 5, 2015 – Culture

Friday 6th

John Digweed at Button Factory
Support : Dan Stritch

My top Selection of the weekend is John Digweed! I’ve seen him twice already, one time in Button factory and at a awakenings festival in the Netherlands. You can expect the finest electronic house music in one of the best clubs in Dublin! John’s style is increasingly tricky to pin down – moving far beyond the progressive house he was originally known for to visit some of the furthest fringes of electronic music.

“Some people still think I’m a prog DJ and are pleasantly surprised when they hear me now,” John believes. “I spend all the time I possibly can seeking out new music and I think that people respect that. They know I’m going to be different every time and not just churning out the same set.”

His Live set @Time Warp 2014:

Anthony Rother at Opium Rooms
Support: DeFeKt, Will Kinsella

Anthony Rother is an electro DJ/producer from Frankfurt. He is characterized by repetitive machine-like beats, robotic, vocoder-driven vocals, melancholy, futuristic mood and lyrics that often deal with the consequences of technological progress, the relationship between humans and machines, and the role of computers in society.

His Live set @ feiertag airport wuerzburg last year:

Saturday 7th

Iron Curtis at South William

South william’s basement offers you a nice and intimate scene. Check it out if you haven’t been there yet ! They also have delicious cocktails !!

Iron Curtis’ pieces originate in a place simultaneously tuned to the sounds of Detroit, Chicago and Hamburg. In his home town of Nürnberg, Johannes Paluka is more familiarly known under his surname, which he goes by at the turntable. Intertwining Deep-House with soulful Techno in a disturbingly enchanting manner, his sound moves in the equilibrium of reduced, but never minimal. Flashes of kitsch brighten the dark universe of Iron Curtis, but fail to interfere with the melancholy subtext. Profound music for the dance floor!

His DJ-Set @ Kyo Singapore – July 2014:

 Greg Wilson at Hangar

Why not a bit of disco and nu-disco for this Saturday? In a warehouse with the best sound system? even better! Also upstairs, The Loft will offer you some  great House & Techno with some of Dublins finest resident Dj’s: Kaily, Jordan Tuite & Elliot & Willo. A fantastic variety for the night 🙂
