Shrem’s Hunted & Gathered Top 5 Choons of the Month: September 2014
Our dear Shrem. Yes Shrem, I’m glad you remembered him from our previous encounter. The love was mutual between him and us so he decided to jump on board with the Hunt & Gather team. And why not? We’re like butterfly catchers – we discover aesthetically unique, strange and creative beings. He is going to prepare a monthly post summarising the best tracks he has discovered during the length of each month past. This is going to be sweet! Happy Hunting.
“Apart” – Kasper Bjørke feat. Sísý Ey – Danish and Icelandic forces unite for this spectacular slice of synth-pop that left me speechless, touched and mesmerized since the very first listen to Kasper Bjørke’s new album “After Forever”. A pure song; along with perfection and a hypnotizing melody, deliciously retro production and those harmonious layers or vocal acrobatics by the multi-talented Eyþórsdóttir sisters from Sísý Ey. Song of the month big time!
“Night Flight” – Midnight Magic – Tiffany Roth, one of this planet’s most electrifying vocalists and her cosmic disco ensemble Midnight-BeamMeUp-Magic announce the release of their forthcoming “Vicious Love” EP with this vintage flavoured nu-disco anthem. Brooklyn’s finest.
“I’m In Love” – Zhala – Robyn’s protégée Zhala has just released “I’m In Love” her infectiously haunting Pop Bizarre moment. The video directed by Roxy Farhat (who previously worked on The Knife’s “A Tooth for an Eye”) is something else too.
“On My Mind” – Dornik – this velvet voiced drummer brings back all the sauciest sounds associated with 80’s R&B, soul and funk and serves them with a modern twist. This is Dornik’s 3rd single keeping it classy and à la mode.
“Complètement Fou” – Yelle – She’s back with even more colours and more charisma! France’s #1 synth pop act is back with a brand new record this week and this vibrant video accompanying “Complètement Fou” which is impossibly addictive. Vogueing extravaganza!
