Top sights and sounds at Longitude Festival

July 12, 2016 – Festivals, Festivals

We are knee deep in festival season, and it seems like this summer is literally flying by before our eyes. If you are around Dublin this weekend be sure to catch one, two or all three days of Longitude Festival in Marlay Park. With tickets starting at only €64.50 and city centre festivals growing in popularity over the years, we feel this years Longitude will not leave you high and dry, though the weather this weekend is looking rather dry!

This year’s festival is meant to be their best yet, with added acts being added just a week before.

Here we are a list of a few artists we think might tickle your fancy this weekend….

Kendrink Lamar

kendrick

As Pharell Williams described him as “this era’s Bob Dylan” and Lady Gaga claiming him as her favourite artist, it would be rude not to go see him.

CHVRCHES

A Scottish electronic band, their sound is something unique, ambient and ephemeral.  A must see!

Declan McKenna

He is only 18, but since he started his career in music, we can all see he is accelerating to the very top. Born from Glasgow, he will be playing on Friday, he is one to watch for sure.

Mo

A unique sound, she began writing her own songs at the age of seven and now has the freshest hits to dance to. She has strong political views, which shows she is a powerful woman! Already she has a huge number of followers, as most of her tours are sold out winning fans from all over the world.

The 2 bears

These guys are lovely live cuddly bears who are a musical duo that hit it off together from the get go. An electronic dance mix, guaranteed to get you bopping.

Izzy Bizu

This absolute stunner, half English, half Ethiopian, who gets her inspiration from Adele and Amy Winehouse which results into this smooth, soul and jazz punk. She is going to be super big, so I wouldn’t miss her for the world.

Christine and the Queens

The organizers of longitude have stated that she “is must see artist of this year”, in our eyes that, means there should be no excuse but to check her out!!!!

For home ground tunes….

Coronas

Our favourite Irish boy band are playing this year. They now live in London, so you must welcome these boys home as they play in Marlay Park. With a recent album released I am sure they will get the crowd going!!

Loah Bailey- “The Bailey”

A local from Maynooth, she has a original sound, she calls “Art Soul”, which is truly beautiful and unique.

Kelly Ann-Byrne

We saw her at Dublin City Block Party, where she rocked, which is why we are mentioning her again. We love this queen DJ!

So there you have it, it is  meant to be sunny out too! So I know it’s early, but who’s excited for the weekend?
