GLITTER TITS DJ COURSE: Introducing Tutor, Nialler9

August 2, 2018 – News
The all-inclusive, not for profit DJ course ‘Glitter Tits’ is starting next week, YAS! H&G wanted to start highlighting the amazingly talented tutors who will be taking part throughout the course, sharing their wisdom with the up & coming disco Divas. The first on our list is none other than the music guru himself, Nialler9.

Who is Nialler9?

He currently contributes music articles to the Irish Times weekly. He can also frequently be found DJing around Dublin city including Lumo, a monthly club night or hosting Nialler9-curated music events. Recently, Niall has been involved in music supervision and sync licensing with Avant Music Port curating music for digital media, ads, TV, films and in-flight entertainment with an emphasis on emerging Irish music.

Byrne has curated gigs internationally at SXSW in Austin, Texas & Camden Crawl, London as well as locally for Hard Working Class Heroes, Dublin Theatre Festival, Happenings, Sounds From A Safe Harbour in Cork, Camden Crawl’s Dublin edition and collaborations with Le Cool, U:Mack, Feel Good Lost, Forbidden Fruit and Bodytonic as well as Minimum Maximum (once-off gigs in interesting spaces including Block-T, Monster Truck Gallery and Granby Park) and Vinyl Love, a special event club night/ festival experience along with Cork’s Stevie G featuring DJs playing 7 of their favourite 7” records.
With the Glitter Tit’s excitement rising day by day, H&G caught up with the man himself and asked him a few questions, ENJOY!
1) Describe your typical DJ in 3 words: DJ set?
Melodic, electronic disco
2) What is it about Glitter Tits that wanted you to participate?
The under-representation of  women and LGBTQ in the DJ world is something I’ve keenly aware of and try to consider in bookings where relevant.  Taking part in Glitter Tits gives myself a chance to directly encourage new DJs to get involved.
3) Last track listened to on Spotify:
Sophisticated Ladies –  This Ain’t Really Love

4) Up & coming gigs/events?
  1. Aug 4: All Together Now
  2. Aug 18/19: Another Love Story
  3. Aug 25: Lumo Club
  4. September 1: Electric Picnic

5) Do you have a mix we could bop to?
