H&G’s Midas Touch // Introducing, darktrax

December 19, 2018 – News

HO, HO, HO BITCHES. It’s that time of year again! Whether you love or hate the December thrills, there is an undeniable sense of giving in the air, and it is MAGICAL. I can’t tell if its the weird smell of pine in the air from the random tree in my front room decorated with tacky lights and bobbles (madness), or the slightly flat harmonies from the 100’s of the unrehearsed choirs from around the city raising money for a good cause – all in all, Christmas is an event to say the least.

One of the most divine aspects of the Christmas period is the sesh; you can have a can in hand from the 24th until the 31st free from judgement. MERRY-LITMAS. I can’t think of a better way to finish off the seshmas season than ringing in the bells at Midas Touch, our NYE Golden Palace Party.

Deep inside our shiny Golden Palace of dreams, you will find The Tomb Room where we pay homage to the spirits of 2018 as we dance the night away on the dance floor. The Techno Tomb room has been designed for all attendees to lose their inhibitions to some of the finest techno on offer. Raise your warm can of Tesco larger with us and bring the spirits of love, acceptance and courage into 2019. CAN I GET AN AMEN? Headlining the night is a talent beyond words, dark trax.

Dark trax is a Dj and Promoter and upcoming label exploring the dark side of electronic music.darktrax has quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into his sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of the music that he loves best. Playing alongside artists such as Silent Servant, Schwefelgelb and Phase Fatale, he embodies Techno, EBM and Coldwave while also experimenting with Ambient/Drone Vinyl using pedals and hardware for effects.

Q&A with Dark Trax

Q1) What should the H&G family expect from your DJ set?

I am going to hold my usual dark distorted element back in my set on NYE. I don’t have tracks planned yet, but it’s going to be an absolute rave.

Q2) Have you ever heard, or experienced a H&G event?

Every single one. From 10 people in a field doing spoken word to 800 people in a warehouse in the space of the first year.

Q3) What is the last track you played on Bandcamp?

Kouba by ANFS. Released on the greek label Vanila.

Q4) What was your highlight performance of 2018?

It’s been a pretty busy year but two stand out. Supporting and seeing Schwefelgelb perform to a sold out Soundhouse and playing in House Of Yes for H&G under another alias.

Q5) Worst/ most gas experience playing live?

Forgetting my USB for an art exhibition and putting a playlist on my phone and forgetting to turn it on airplane mode. Yep.

Q6) Which Irish artists are catching your eye at the minute?

Autumns. He is already fairly respected in electronic music having supported Broken English Club in Dublin to headlining shows all across Europe and you’ll catch him in Dublin at darktrax soon enough. Other than that Syrette who you can catch in Soundhouse on Saturday 15th December. Both of those artists are creating and releasing music coming from the right place.

Q7) How do you plan to cure yourself on the 1st of Jan, 2019?

Usually by lying in the recovery position until I get hungry enough to crawl off the floor. But this year I plan to take it handy and sleep in a bed.

Q8) Gizzz a mix we can jive to before the night.
